govt. engineering school in Chandigarh, Punjab, north India. It was founded by Dr. Ashok Chitkara in 1998 and is approved by the All-India Council of Technical Education and affiliated to Punjab Technical University. It has a strong emphasis on networking and collaborating with regional technical corporations.

Chitkara Educational Trust initiated its higher education programs in the year 2002 on the Punjab campus which is around 30 km (19 mi) from Chandigarh and the same distance from Patiala and Ambala.

The institute was ranked 49th in the top 50 private engineering institutions in the country by MINT (Hindustan Times – Cfore survey for the year 2008-09.

Chitkara Educational Trust has been selected to be the regional partner in North India to represent “Indo – USA collaboration for Engineering Education” (IUCEE) which is an association of American universities' engineering schools.

Wipro Technologies accredited CIET as a Trusted Academic Partner by virtue of having met the qualifying standards of excellence in Wipro's Institutional accreditation framework.

Chitkara is one of the two institutes in India and one among five selected from the Asia Pacific region, including the Japan Region, that got the HP Innovations award of USD 170,000 for creating technology which is accessible to everyone.

Chitkara and Synopsys have joined to conduct an ME Program in Microelectronic Systems.

The institute has been nominated to the Infosys Campus Connect program which links up 400 engineering schools of the country.

Also a team named "The TrailBlazers" from the institute participated in the NASA 2nd Annual Luanabotics Mining Competition held at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA.[1]

A team of 8 from Chitkara won the Silver Medal in the 39th All India Engineering students Design Competition - 2008 conducted by National Design and Research Forum, Institution of Engineers (India) for their design of a "low cost, high efficiency, egronomic, electric wheelchair". The team consisted of Vaibhav Sharma, Vikas Chhabra, Simranjeet Singh, Prashant Mohan, Shashank Mankotia, Siddarth Kaul, Sushant Dhamija and Navjot Singh.
